Slogathon - What a successful day

Finally the day of the Slogathon came, after six weeks of planning !

And WOW what a successful day it was. We had most of our regular team, plus many more helpers. We worked from 7am -7 Pm on the Grade 11 listed Winterstoke gardens.

Ramsgate mayor, Ward Councillors, other volunteer group members, and some neighbours (who also very kindly let us use the facilities) all pitched in to help, food was also supplied to us for the event.

During the day we managed to sweep and clear the cliff top parapets, planted up to 200 donated plants (Young’s Nursery and TDC ? ) carried out edging to 75% of the upper gardens. Sanded and painted 12 benches, we also swept and washed some of the lower shelters.

We had a small refreshment stand and ran a raffle on the day. We would like to thank all the very kind business who donated prizes to us.

It was a amazingly heart warming day to see so many people give, time money and encouragement for the good of our lovely coastal town of Ramsgate.
